Advanced Biomaterial Systems Announces Direct
Sales Force for Interventional Spine and Orthopedics

Advanced Biomaterial Systems, Inc. (ABS) has initiated
the development of a direct field sales force specifically
to support interventional spine and orthopedics markets,
signifying a substantial commitment to the growth of
its core business.
ABS
has demonstrated its ability to deliver optimal products
for percutaneous spine procedures through numerous developments
in the past year. Its Plexis® Bone Void Filling
System and CONCERT® Spine VR received FDA indication
for vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty in January 2005,
and CE mark earlier this year. Plexis, which utilizes
patented mixing and dispensing technologies, was designed
to provide optimal physician control and safety during
vertebral augmentation. Concert® Spine VR, the proprietary
bone cement developed by ABS, was also developed specifically
for vertebral augmentation. ABS received ISO2003 certification
this year for medical device design and manufacturing,
a sign of its commitment to quality in all aspects of
its business.
Breaking
with large-company trends toward distributor sales models,
ABS is committed to development of direct sales of all
of its products. “A focused, direct sales force
is the right business model for our current product
offering, as well as the products and procedures in
our development pipeline,” states CEO Peter Carr.
“The first critical step was to add the right
person to our senior management team to head up this
effort,” adds Carr. In January, ABS welcomed Joey
Robinson as Vice President, Marketing and Sales. “She
brings direct experience from all sides of the interventional
spine market, biomaterials, and orthopedics.”

has identified approximately 20 key geographies to be
grown within the next two years; additional growth will
be supported by the addition of product lines and the
creation of additional territories to allow for continued
